TWO youths are being hunted by the police after one of them drove a quad bike at officers.

Police are asking for the public’s help to trace two youths who were riding a quad bike and a scrambler around the Millbrook and Redbridge area of Southampton on Friday between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

Officers spotted the two vehicles on Kendal Avenue, near to the junction of Merdale Road.

The red and white scrambler and the white quad bike collided, causing the scrambler rider to fall to the ground.

Officers tried to detain the youth, however the quad-rider attempted to collide with officers, allowing the other rider to make good his escape.

Both bikes made off along Kendal Avenue, towards Cumbrian Way.

It is believed the rider of the scrambler may have hurt his arms and legs when he came off the bike.

The scrambler-rider is described as a white male, late teens, and was wearing a white T-shirt, shorts and a crash helmet.

The quad-rider is also a white male in his early 20s, of stocky build, and wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and a crash helmet.

Both of the bikes are for off-road use and so were being used illegally; police say the youths were a danger to themselves and other road users.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or knows who was riding these vehicles.
