A MOTORCYCLIST who was airlifted to hospital in Southampton after suffering serious head injuries in a cras has died.

Two motorcyclists were travelling together from Blandford when one of them collided with a silver Honda Civic on the A350 through Spetisbury.

The biker, a 30-year-old man from Poole, has been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries, but died last night.

He was riding a black and red Suzuki 1000c motorcycle.

The Civic driver, a 30-year-old woman from Blandford, was not injured in the crash.

Police have described the collision as "very serious".

They were called at 10.50am on Sunday.

The motorcyclist was taken by air ambulance to Southampton with very serious injuries, a spokesperson for Dorset Police said.

A road closure was put in place between the Tesco roundabout and the Roundhouse roundabout.

Chief Inspector Jim Beashel, of Dorset Police, said: “I would ask motorists to please avoid the area and use alternative routes as the road has been closed to enable collision investigators to examine the scene.

"We would like to thank the public for their patience while emergency services are dealing with the incident."

The road remained closed into the afternoon but has now reopened.

The motorcyclist's next of kin have been informed.
