HAMPSHIRE indie rockers Blaenavon will support rising stars The Sherlocks on the Sheffield band’s big nationwide tour in September, including a landmark date in Portsmouth.

The news came as DJ Huw Stephen’s played their latest single, Let’s Pray, on Radio One.

Originally from Liphook, lead singer-guitarist Ben Gregory, bass player Frank Wright and drummer Harris McMillan are no strangers to the big time with Glastonbury, Truck and Blissfields festivals all under their belts this year.

Now they will join The Sherlocks at some of the most famous music venues in Britain, including The Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth on Monday, September 5.

The lads will also travel to the headliner’s northern strongholds of Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool and the legendary Ritz in Manchester. Both bands played together in February and will appear on the Festival Republic Stage at Reading and Leeds festivals over the August bank holiday weekend.

Earlier this year Kiaran, Brandon, Josh and Andy from The Sherlocks sold out The Joiners on St Mary’s Street in Southampton and supported The Libertines in Bournemouth.

The Sherlocks with Blaenavon play The Wedgewood Rooms on Albert Road, Portsmouth on Monday September 5, 2016. Tickets £9. More at thesherlocksmusic.co.uk
