SHOCKING footage shows a savage fight in a Hampshire park that left one youngster needing hospital treatment.

The video posted on facebook shows a gang of youths kicking and punching another young person on the ground.

The young boy can be seen fighting them off but is quickly surrounded again, with multiple people kicking and punching him on the floor in Riverside Park in Bitterne, Southampton.

Hampshire Police have said that they are investigating the incident, which happened on Sunday, July 24 around 2.30pm.

Two boys suffered injuries as a result of the fight and one required hospital treatment.

The person who posted the video online said they were not there at the time but claims that "they used hammer and other tools to hurt him."

In the clip one person can be seen using an object to beat the boy as they lay on the ground.

The video ends with the youngster who was being attacked escaping from the group and removing his shirt which has been ripped to shreds.

Someone calls out "chuck me the hammer bruv" just before the clip ends.

In a statement Hampshire Police said: "Police are investigating after two 14-year-old boys were reportedly attacked at Riverside Park near Woodmill Lane, Southampton at around 2.30pm yesterday (Sunday, July 24).

"The two boys suffered various injuries and one has received hospital treatment.

"The attack was filmed on a mobile device and has appeared on social media.

"Officers investigating the case would ask people to refrain from sharing or re-posting the video or naming people online.

"The video could put the victims, witnesses and suspects at risk and jeopardises the investigation. "

Police Staff Investigator Elaine Rogers from the Western Investigation Team said: “This is a shocking video of what appears to be a very violent attack on two teenage boys.

“This kind of behaviour is unacceptable.

“We know a lot of people witnessed this incident and we would ask those people to make contact with us, in confidence on 101 quoting 44160276248.

“Furthermore, if you are the person who took this video we want to hear from you. Please assist us with this investigation and give us a call.”
