IT’S set to be the ultimate clash of the titans in a fight for national pride, honour and respect – and raise thousands of pounds for maimed and injured military personnel.

A team of former SAS soldiers and US Special Forces will face each other in the ring in a world first exclusive charity boxing match.

The Remembrance Rumble is the brainchild of Southampton SAS veteran “Big” Phil Campion a serviceman turned author who has served in operations across the globe.

The big night will take place in York Hall, Bethnal Green, East London, on Friday, November 11, and is being run by Fight 4 Lives.

The US squad is being compiled by former Navy Seal Brandon Webb, 39, who trained Chris Kyle, immortalised in the film American Sniper.

So far it features US Marine Scouts and Navy Seals.

Both teams will face each other in eight separate bouts featuring four two-minute rounds to raise funds for charities the Pilgrim Bandits – which helps injured personnel and Talking2Minds – supporting those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Talking2Minds founder Rob Paxman who fought for B Squadron, 2 SAS, and Pilgrim Bandits ambassador Colin MacLachlan, star of Channel Four reality tv show SAS: Who Dares Wins, are also fighting.

Phil came up with the idea after competing in a Fight 4 Lives charity boxing event which was held at the Hilton Ageas Bowl last year.

The 47-year-old, who previously served in D Squadron , 22 SAS, has written an autobiography Born Fearless and novels Desert Fire and Killing Range.

He said: “This is something unique and no-one has done this before. We have all fought for our country and now we are fighting for what we believe in.

"I really want to help people who are less fortunate than me. I can’t wait and they will give us a good show.

"People need to get behind us and come and see us.”

He added that previously it was difficult to get people to agree to fight his SAS team due to their fearsome reputation.

Graeme Hampton co-directs Fight 4 Lives with professional boxing coach Wayne Batten.

Mr Hampton said: “They used to fight for their country and now they are fighting for charity.

"It is a remembrance of war and the remembrance of sacrifices people have made and they want to give something back.”

Before the big fight the SAS team will also compete against figures in the boxing industry at a black tie charity event taking place at The Grange, Tower Bridge Hotel in London on Thursday, September 8.

There are also plans to arrange another bout in USA next year.
