THE game swept the world - and now Pokemon Go players in Southampton have been able to catch ‘em all while raising money for charity at the same time.
Organised by the city’s BioBlitz group, which surveys all the creatures living in Southampton, it took place on Saturday.
Groups of Pokemon hunters walked through the city while playing the game, while also using another mobile phone app called Charity Miles which allowed them to raise money for the World Wide Fund for Nature.
It coincided with the Zany Zebra Trail currently taking place in the city and started at the Zebraversity statue in East Park before finishing up at The Flying Aubergine cafe with a talk by University of Southampton student Georgia Harper on the Pokemon phenomenon.
Pokemon fever swept the city over the weekend, with city nightspot Orange Rooms hosting a gaming event themed on the “augmented reality” game.
