A PEDESTRIAN is seriously injured in a Southampton hospital after being hit by a car.
The crash happened on the westbound carriageway of the B3400 at Newfound between Basingstoke and Oakley and the pedestrian in his 40s suffered severe head injuries.
Police are appealing for information following the incident at 4.25am this morning.
The pedestrian, who is in his 40s, was hit by a man driving a Vauxhall Insignia and rushed to Southampton General Hospital.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: "Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information should contact the Roads Policing Unit at Whitchurch police station on 101 quoting Operation Seat.
"Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
