ORGANISERS of Hampshire's Zany Zebra trail say it is unlikely one of the vandalised sculptures will return before the event finishes on Sunday.

Police have released CCTV images of a group of men they want to speak to in connection with the vandalism of the sculpture in Ocean Village.

The footage was released by officers investigating the damage caused to Glitter Fish, which had been on show at Ocean Way when it was targeted.

Police want to speak to the men pictured in the images as part of their inquiries into the damage caused to the artwork which was taken off the trial for repairs after the attack on September 9.

Organisers of the trail Marwell Wildlife said it was unlikely the sculpture would return to the trail before it finishes on Sunday.

But in better news the Ticket to Rise sculpture which was stolen from its plinth last month, will be back on show.

From midday today the sculpture will be back on the trail and able to be ticked off by zebra enthusiasts eager to complete the trail.

As previously reported Ticket to Rise was stolen from its plinth in Vincent Walk, Southampton, on August 6.

After a city wide appeal and investigations by Hampshire police the statue was eventually recovered by a group of children taking part in a beginners’ sailing course on the River Itchen.

They found the sculpture when they dropped anchor and effectively pulled it up from the river bed.

Residents and visitors will have to make the most of the zebras before the trail finishes at the weekend and make the most of the zebra-based activities and merchandise available in the Zany Zebra Zone at the Marlands shopping centre in Southampton.

The zelfie competition that has been running for trail followers to picture themselves ‘selfie’ style with a sculpture also comes to an end today.

However, there is still time to enter a competition to win the chance to see the endangers Grevy’s zebra, on which the trail is based, in the wild.

Marwell has teamed up with Winchester-based wildlife travel experts ‘Wildlife Worldwide’ and luxury international jewellery and accessories brand Swarovski to offer the chance to win a nine day safari for two people to Kenya.
