New Forest District Council are advising drivers that there will be a series of road closures around Lyndhurst today as the Freedom of the New Forest District is formally awarded to 17 Port & Maritime Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps.

Following the ceremony at the council offices on Appletree Court more than 200 members of the regiment will march through Lyndhurst High Street along with the Band of the Royal Logistic Corps.

The public are invited to line the High Street and support the Regiment and RLC band as they parade. The following roads will be closed between 14.20 and approximately 15.30: • A35 Southampton Road/High Street (east of B3056 Beaulieu Rd) • B3056 Beaulieu Rd (at junction with access road to Appletree Court) • Lyndhurst car park (at its exit to the High St) • A337 Romsey Road junction with High Street (at traffic lights) • A337 Bournemouth Road (east of junction with A337 Shrubbs Hill Road) • A337 Shrubbs Hill Road at junction with Sandy Lane
