FESTIVAL-GOERS are being warned about the dangers of illegal drugs as they get set to head to Soundclash this weekend.

Hampshire Constabulary says it is working with organisers to help keep the expected 17,500-strong crowd safe at the event at Somerley, Ringwood.

Music starts at 1pm on Saturday and finishes at 1am on Sunday and security measures have been put in place to search everyone who enters the site.

There will be amnesty bins which members of the public can use to dispose of drugs.

Superintendent Kelly Whiting said: “We will be maintaining a robust position on drugs, including new psychoactive substances, all of which are banned from site.

"If you are found with drugs you will at the very least be ejected from site and barred from returning, and there is a very good chance you will be arrested and prosecuted.

"Festivals in previous years have shown that even just dabbling in illegal drugs and psychoactive substances can have catastrophic or fatal consequences.

“Make sure you plan before you go – do you need to book a taxi, arrange for someone to collect you, or nominate a designated driver?

"The dangers of drink or drug driving can be devastating and can ruin lives.

"If you drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you won’t just be putting your lives at risk but also the lives of your friends and other road users.

"It’s not worth the risk."
