A SOUTHAMPTON law firm has confirmed that it could be cutting jobs following a merger.

Irwin Mitchell said it was making redundancies in its team which makes compensation claims for hearing loss.

The firm said: “Following a strategic review, we have made the decision to focus our hearing loss work with one team in our Sheffield office.

"We are working with our people in the Southampton hearing loss team and supporting them through a consultation process.

"We will continue to do so and are working hard to find redeployment opportunities.

“Our wider and well-respected PI team continues to grow and remains a very important part of our business.”

Last year Irwin Mitchell merged with Eggars to form a £250m legal business in 15 locations with nearly 300 partners.
