A hunt has been launched for a burglar after a £100,000 raid on a Southampton home.

The burglar escaped with jewellery and watches worth £77,000 plus £23,000 in cash.

Officers are investigating the burglary which happened in Glenwood Avenue, Southampton.

It happened sometime between 6pm and 10pm on September 24.

Entry was gained via a window and an untidy search was carried out once inside.

Jewellery worth an estimated £77,000 was stolen, including rings, necklaces, bracelets and a gold Rolex watch.

An estimated £23,000 in cash was also taken.

Police staff investigator Elaine Rogers said: “This has obviously been a very distressing time for the family involved as many of the items not only held great monetary value but also huge sentimental value.

“These treasured items were collected over many decades and the family would like nothing more than to be reunited with them.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time of the burglary or in the hours before.

“Did you see someone who looked out of place? Did you notice anything that seemed odd?

“We would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered any jewellery for sale in unusual circumstances.

“If you think you may have any information that could help, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call PSI Rogers on 101, quoting 44160362067, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
