A FLASHER who exposed himself to a vulnerable Hampshire pensioner has been jailed.

Bradley Hammond, 22, was employed to deliver food to the 84-year-old women, who lived in sheltered housing.

Portsmouth Crown Court heard that he took items to her before taking the dementia-suffering victim into her bedroom, exposing himself, and carrying out an indecent act.

Hammond, of Nobes Avenue, Gosport, was subsequently arrested and pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a person with a mental disorder.

He was jailed for 10 months and signed the sex offenders' register for seven years.

Investigating officer DC Paul Barry said: “This has been distressing for the victim and her family and I’m pleased that this sentence will provide them some closure following Hammond’s actions.

"The judge has clearly shown how seriously the courts take this kind of offence, which is made all the more disturbing because Hammond abused his position of trust.

“I’d like to thank the victim’s carers and her sheltered housing providers who brought this to the attention of the relevant authorities immediately, which helped our investigation.

“This type of behaviour targeting the elderly or vulnerable simply won’t be tolerated and I hope Hammond’s sentence sends a clear message to that effect”.
