HUNDREDS of runners raised vital funds for charity as they took part in the annual Poppy Run.
Locals ran round Southampton Common in cold temperatures as they completed the 5k fun-run by either running, jogging or walking.
Held across the UK, organisers promise 50 per cent of the profits will be paid to The Royal British Legion.
Organiser of the run Jason Edwards praised all those that took part: “It went very, very well and was really busy.
“We sold 612 tickets and all those and more turned up.
“We are running nine of these events around the county; Southampton was the second busiest!
“We have had some really, really positive feedback about the event and I am glad we were able to raise the money whilst all the runners had fun doing so.”
The Poppy Run is supported by British Military Fitness who provided free fitness sessions to support all participants while preparing for the Poppy Run.
