WAYNE Bridge has become the eighth star to be voted out of I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The former Saints footballer, who grew up in Winchester, and Homes Under the Hammer presenter Martin Roberts were given the boot in a shock double elimination.

After both contestants were told they might be axed, they looked stunned when hosts Ant and Dec told them they would both be departing.

Wayne, who spent 21 days in the jungle as an original member of the camp, told the hosts he was still shocked two people were ejected from the show.

He added: “I was so nervous but everyone in there made it a pleasure. I didn’t expect to have such a great time.”

Wayne, who cried on the show when he spoke about missing his wife Frankie and his children, said: “I spend every day with the kids and the Mrs.

"I will probably get ripped when I get out of here for crying on TV.”

The sports star was frequently terrified by animals and insects on the show but said the competition had helped him conquer his fear of spiders and he would be able to deal with them when he got home as a result.

He said: “I ain’t afraid of spiders now, we used to argue over who would get rid of them but now I will.”

After his interview with the show’s hosts Ant and Dec he was reunited with Frankie and the pair shared a hug and a kiss before posing for photographers.

Roberts, who spent 14 days in the jungle camp after entering the competition late with DJ Danny Baker, left the jungle first and said he had been on an emotional rollercoaster.

He said: “I had no idea it would be anything like that, the people and the experience, how it affects you.

"It surpassed all my expectations.”

Roberts, who clashed with Baker and ex-EastEnders actor Larry Lamb in the camp, said he knew it would be difficult to join a group that had already become close, adding: “There were additional complications with Danny so it was quite tough.

"There is a thing of wanting to be liked which comes from being badly bullied at school.

“The jungle taught me that if you’re just yourself people will like you.”

Of Lamb, who was eliminated on Thursday, he said: “I never had a problem with Larry but I think he had a problem with me.

"He was the patriarch and had gathered 10 people around him and he thought I was a bit of a threat, which I was never going to be.

“He made it clear I wasn’t going to be one of the group.”

Earlier in the show Ant and Dec compared Lamb’s departure from the camp to Brexit and the election of Donald Trump before Ant mimed playing The Last Post, to the anger of viewers on Twitter who branded the move “appalling” and “unforgivable.”

Adam Thomas drew the short straw against Wayne to compete in the day’s Bushtucker Trial titled Knickerbocker Gory.

The trial, his ninth so far, saw him lowered into a large clear dessert glass and joined by a range of critters.

The actor was surrounded by 90,000 jungle nasties by the end of the trial in his bid to earn the six stars on offer.

Arriving back at camp, Thomas, who was given the moniker Mr Bushtucker Trial by Ant and Dec, played a prank on his campmates telling them he had only won two stars instead of the six he had bagged.

The contestants were also informed they had to stage a performance in the jungle.

The musical spectacular saw them telling their jungle story which included singing performances from Joel Dommett and Thomas.
