IT’s the city centre pub crawl with a touch of wizardry.

Hundreds of youngsters are to hit the streets of Southampton for the city’s first ever Harry Potter-style pub tour.

Six Southampton venues and Aberdeen-based Wasted Promotions have teamed up to bring what they describe as a night of “magical fun and excitement’’.

This isn't the first time the wizarding world has visited Southampton either; last year the city hosted two qualifier matches of the Southern Cup Quidditch championships – the game made famous in the novels – involving a team from the university.

Pubs will give revellers a taste of Hogwarts and be transformed into supernatural hangouts for the event on February 24.

Organisers are seeking to find the best-dressed Gryffindor, Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw and Slytherin and promise it will be “a night to remember’’.

Aberdeen DJ Gregg Wilson is the organiser of the event based on the JK Rowling novels about a young wizard.

He said: “We are really looking forward to bringing our Harry Potter themed pub crawl to Southampton.

“The idea behind the event was my love for Harry Potter, I’m a huge fan of the films and it’s something that a lot of peoplemy age grew up with.

“Now, of course, the generation that grew up with the stories can all go out for a drink as well, so we started the concept back in summer 2016 in Aberdeen and have since expanded to Edinburgh and Glasgow where more than 400 people attended the last event.

“Southampton is an exciting opportunity and we are working with a number of national brands and some highly reputable Southampton pubs and one club for our after party – these are due to be announced in due course.’’

The event will be limited to 400 people with the festivities expected to kick off at 7pm. Tickets are expected to go on sale January 12.

The ticket will include free entry into all participating pubs, access to promotional drinks, a professional pub tour host, a free hand-crafted miniature wand and a Hogwarts graduation certificate.
