Robbie Burns fans are in for a wee treat with a night dedicated to the Scottish poet organised by a Hampshire charity.

Educational charity The Rainbow Centre’s annual Burns Night will bring all the traditional formalities to Fareham’s Ferneham Hall.

After a welcome by piper Richard Smith guests will pipe in and address the haggis, before proposing a toast and a tot of whisky.

That’s before the traditional menu of haggis wi’ bashit neeps an’ champit tatties by Wright Choice Catering, followed by cheese, biscuits and coffee.

After dinner, guests will be invited to the dance floor to enjoy a good old fashioned knees up with live music from the Woodsiders Ceilidh Band and their caller, who will walk everyone through each traditional Scottish dance.

Event organiser Kelle Russell said: “Ferneham Hall is a fantastic venue for our Burns Night as they have a fully licensed bar, lots of room for dancing and plenty of free parking spaces.”

This is the third year the Rainbow Centre has hosted the fund raising event and the previous two Burns nights have been a sell-out.

The event on January 27 starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £25 per person.

The Rainbow Centre has been providing vital Conductive Education to children with cerebral palsy for 25 years.

Since 2007 it has offered a range of specialised services for adults with motor disorders such as Parkinson’s, MS and those recovering from a stroke or head injury.

That improves the quality of life and increases independence for individuals attending and their families from across the south coast.
