It was a weekend of celebrations.

From the glitz and glamour of an award ceremony to  a day of fun for the entire community - radio station Unity 101 celebrated in style over the weekend.

Hundreds of people arrived, dressed to the nines, for the annual Unity 101 glittering black tie gala event last night.

Unity 101's organisers, volunteers and partners joined to celebrate another successful year as one of the South Coast's longest radio stations.

The vibrant evening was kick-started with the Unity Bollywood dancers followed by a fashion show organised by Southampton independent boutique, Wareesha Wardrobe.

The station is one of the first community radio stations to be granted a community radio licence by Ofcom back in 2005.

The station launched a lounge studio and started a programme called Sur Sangam, which brings musicians and singers from across Hampshire to rehearse and perform live on air - from this they started Unity 101 Collective Band, who performed live the following evening at community celebration at the Central Hall.

The celebrations continued yesterday with a family fun day for the whole community.

Last night there was also a concert evening where the Unity 101 Community Award and Lifetime achievement awards were handed out.
