Consultations over Southampton City Council’s budget strategy for the next four years will close tomorrow.
The council, which has made £92.4million in savings over the past five years, still needs to cut another £42.3 million due to the changes in the way council are funded.
The proposals include being more efficient in managing and delivering services on a day-to-day basis, making more use of online methods to deliver services, as well as redesigning, sharing, stopping, reducing or changing services.
Rather than just planning finances for the coming year, the council has taken the decision for the first time to plan for the next four years instead.
Southampton City Council will still be accepting written comments on the budget plans via email or letter until February 8 while the questionnaire closes at midnight tomorrow.
A final set of proposals will be presented to the Cabinet on February 14, and Full Council on February 15 for final decision to set the budget and council tax.
