HE WAS a loving husband and father of six.

Now a tribute will be paid to a Hampshire man with a convoy of recovery lorries at his funeral.

Jason Richer, of Wonston Road in Sutton Scotney, was a recovery operator and died of a heart attack.

The 46-year-old had worked at Ravenscroft Motor Company for three years.

Before the funeral at Southampton Crematorium today, friends and colleagues will pay their respects with a convoy of recovery lorries.

The group of trucks will be joining the M3 at junction 10 southbound before proceeding down the motorway together in Jason’s honour.

Jason’s widow Samantha said: “He was one of a kind - cheeky, funny, loving and caring.

“He was just an all-round good guy and would do anything for anyone. He cherished his family.

“We live next to an elderly couple, and he always used to go round to see if they were OK and put their bins out.

“It didn’t matter what is was - if he’d done a 12-hour night shift and if someone needed help, he would get up and go.

“He absolutely loved his job and everything about it.”

Friend Samantha Burt added: “He will be missed by a lot of people, especially his girls and his wife.”

Steve Ravenscroft, Jason’s boss said: “Throughout his time with us he became one of the most commended drivers of all time.

“Add to that his ‘can do’ attitude, he soon became a role model - the perfect man to send new drivers out with.

“Jason was always reliable and just got on with everything that was asked of him and more.

“He loved his job and his truck. In fact you could sum Jason up as the perfect recovery driver.

“Jason will be missed as a friend and colleague. We will all miss his cheery attitude.”
