Police have confirmed a Hampshire woman at the centre of a murder probe was stabbed to death following a post mortem examination.

The 36-year-old was found injured at a property in Toronto Road, Fratton at 11:58pm on Saturday, but was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Two women, both from Portsmouth, have been arrested by police and remain in custody after officers were granted extra time to question the pair.

A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder, while a 52-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Inspector Simon Baker said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Toronto Road between 10.30pm and midnight on Saturday.

“If you have not yet contacted us, please do, as you may have information that could assist our investigation.
