MUCH loved international singing star Jack Jones will be heading to Hampshire next year as he celebrates his 80th birthday.
It will be a big treat for his legion of fans when the legendary American crooner headlines at Eastleigh’s Concorde on January 25.
The Stoneham Lane club has been chosen as part of his UK tour when he will be showcasing the hits - including The Impossible Dream - which made him a household name.
Standing head and shoulders above his musical peers, he has sung all his life and has 60 albums to his credit, two Grammies and another five nominations, an Emmy, and a string of other awards.
As well as The Impossible Dream, he is also famed for hits like Lollipops and Roses, What I Did For Love, The Race Is On, Lady, Call Me Irresponsible and The Loveboat theme.
A pop and jazz singer, Jack can also add acting to his showbiz credentials. He is the son of actors Allan Jones and Irene Hervey.
Jack was born in Los Angeles on the night his father recorded his signature song Donkey Serenade.
His first professional break was with his father, who was performing at the Thunderbird Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Jack recorded several demos for song writer Don Raye attracting attention from the music industry.
In 1959, Jones was signed to Capitol Records and released the album This Love of Mine and a few singles.
