IT WAS a magical celebration that was guaranteed to cast a spell on everyone who went.

The third Witches, Fairies and Hippies Fayre to be held at West Totton Community Centre boasted almost 60 "alternative" stalls.

Incense, handmade soap and native American jewellery were just some of the items on sale.

Between 300 and 500 people are thought to have attended the event, which included palm readings and other activities traditionally associated with witches, fairies and hippies.

A large number of books on witchcraft were among the items for sale.

The five-hour event attracted several guest speakers, who spoke on a wide range of topics. Tarot reader Penny Wilson, from Gosport, who also among those who took part.

Last night people took to social media to celebrate the success of the event.

Karen Helm said: "A fabulous day, wonderful to see so many friends, fantastic talks. Thank you so much."

Jo Pawley posted: "A lovely market - again! Thank you to all those involved in making it what it is."

The fayre was organised by Becky Anderson-Davis, from Pagan Pride South, who said two similar events were held at the centre last year.

She added that a much bigger event would be staged in Palmerston Park, Southampton on August 20 and would include a parade from the Bargate.
