A sixth person has been arrested by police investigating an attempted murder.

A 26-year-old man from Surrey was arrested last night on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, and conspiracy to supply class A drugs after a Hampshire man who was shot earlier this month.

He has been bailed until May 11.

Two men from Surrey, aged 30 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to supply class A drugs earlier this week, but were subsequently released without charge and will face no further action.

Three other people arrested last week in connection with the investigation have been bailed until April 28 pending further enquiries.

34-year-old Jamie Sibley, who remains in hospital, was seriously injured when he was shot at around 12.50am on February 13, in Athena Avenue, Crookhorn.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital with a serious head injury.

Detectives are still trying to locate the weapon used which remains a high priority for the investigation.

Jamie Sibley’s family have urged anyone with information to come forward: “Jamie is a very much loved member of our family, he has had his problems which many people have but really he’s such an easy-going person.

“We as a family appreciate all the well wishes and comments, but would also like respect for our privacy while we continue to deal with Jamie’s condition and wellbeing.

“All we can push across is that if anybody has any information that could help this investigation no matter how small or irrelevant you think it is, please inform the police. We need to get justice for Jamie.”
