This week the country celebrated national Love Your Pet Day, with Hampshire animal lovers taking part and sending pictures in of their furry friends.

On Monday, pet lovers everywhere observed the day, set aside to give extra attention and make sure that the animals in your life felt the love.

The international holiday saw American pet owners also celebrating and posting photos on social media.

At the Daily Echo, we received plenty of pictures of pet lovers throughout the county giving appreciation to their animals.

Treats were encouraged and pampering a must for the extra family member.

Our online poll also proved a hit, with 70% of those voting saying they would most like to see a dog in their home, and 21% saying a cat would be their favourite companion.

2% said a rabbit and 3% voted for a ferret as their perfect pet.

Canines proved the most popular animal to be sent in to us, but felines, reptiles and aquatic pets were all appreciated throughout Hampshire.

If you have a photo of your beloved pet that you’d like to share with us, send them in to aaron.shaw@dailyecho.co.uk.
