POLICE are investigating a late-night three-car pile-up on a Southampton street.

Shocked revellers witnessed the crash on Oxford Street and said that one car 'sped down' the street and crashed into two others at about 11.15pm on Friday.

Photos from the scene show a damaged Vauxhall Astra and a Bentley in the road although police say no-one was injured in the crash, which also involved an Audi.

CCTV image obtained by the Daily Echo shows the car reversing up the road before turning 180 degrees and driving away.

A witness told the Daily Echo: "This is another example of the need for more public safety on Oxford Street, a hub of late night drinking and partying so close to residential areas.

"Had this incident been on the other side of the street it would have been at ground floor housing.

"It is imperative that the Council take note of this and strongly consider putting speed bumps and security cameras in place to protect the people that live on this street, and not just visiting for late night entertainment."

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact police on 101 quoting 44170072411.
