A Hampshire MP is set to be among a crowd taking part in one of the biggest 10k runs in the south.

Mims Davies has signed up to the Hendy Eastleigh 10k, which takes place on Sunday, March 19, and is heading for another sell-out with 2,750 entrants.

“The Hendy Eastleigh 10k is a fast, flat course which regularly attracts runners from across the south in search for a personal best time," said Mims, who is MP for Eastleigh.

“It is usually a sell-out and really helps put Eastleigh on the running map.

"I will be taking part again this year and wish all the runners well for their training and hope we get a good day for running this great course.”

The event is sponsored by Hendy Group, which is also putting in a team of runners - including Olympic gold medal-winning hockey player Alex Danson, one of the company's ambassadors.

Hendy Group chief executive Paul Hendy said he was "thrilled" with the amount of entries in this year's race.

He added: "We are really looking forward to another great event which starts and finishes within sight of our FordStore in Eastleigh.

“Support of the event fits perfectly with our plans to play a key role in the community in which we work.”

The Hendy Ford Eastleigh 10k celebrates its 33rd anniversary this year.

Entries are now open for the event - visit www.runningmania.co.uk for more information.
