STAFF at Scrivens Opticians and Hearing Care in Shirley, Southampton, held a charity book sale in aid of Alzheimer’s Society and to mark World Book Day.
Kadi Evans, contact lens optician (pictured), said: “Alzheimer’s affects a growing number of people in our community and there is a real need for continued research and support. Our book sale was a chance to raise funds and awareness for a cause we care about.”
Scrivens is supporting Alzheimer’s Society as its chosen charity for the third successive year after raising more than £28,000 so far.
It was chosen because of the growing evidence of a link between uncorrected hearing loss and dementia, including Alzheimer’s.
Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care is a family-run business established in 1938.
It has 176 stores in England and Wales, with 1,000 employees. For more information, visit www.scrivens.com
