Southampton has been named among the biggest property hotspots in the country, according to a leading property website.

Zoopla ranked Southampton sixth alongside Bristol after the website looked at the average number of days a home was listed before receiving an offer.

Properties in the city were listed for an average of 34 days before being changed to ‘under offer’, 13 days quicker than the national average.

The findings also discovered the average house price in the city was £279,769, compared to £400,054 in the south east.

Last month it was reported that average prices of homes with a Southampton had soared by more than 9% annually since 1995, nearly three per cent more than the national average.
