A WINCHESTER man has narrowly avoided an immediate prison sentence after admitting shoplifting.
Daniel Kempster, 35, of Staple Gardens, pleaded guilty to three thefts from High Street shops.
Basingstoke Magistrates Court heard that over two days, February 16-17, Kempster stole two bottles of aftershave, worth £94, from Debenhams; two bottles of whisky valued at £38 from M&S; and two jackets worth £199 from Jack Wills.
Kempster was jailed for six weeks, suspended for 12 months and told to pay £25 compensation to each shop.
