WITH reference to Richard Jacobs’ letter referring to the state of Southampton’s roads, I understand that the council was granted two substantial payments from the government to spend on repairing the roads.

To date I cannot see any evidence of this work being done.

Bassett Avenue is an utter disgrace considering it is a main road into the city. All the drain covers have sunk and are now lower than the road so vehicles have to try to avoid going too near them. With all the heavy traffic going into town it’s a nightmare to drive down.

Where has all this money gone which was supposed to be for pothole repairs?

On some frivolous project which the council has in mind? Instead of wasting money the council should think carefully about the way they spend our money and the government’s.
