A crash on the Marchwood Bypass caused heavy traffic on the Marchwood Bypass earlier today.

A South Central Ambulance spokesman said a car left the carriageway and hit a tree at 11.26am.

Firefighters from St Mary's and Redbridge fire stations worked to cut a woman free from the car.

Drivers faced queues between Twiggs Lane and Dibden Roundabout southbound, as well as just after the Dibden roundabout on the northbound carriageway.

It comes less than a week after a head-on crash closed the bypass for several hours.
