TEST Valley School is celebrating the result of a very positive Ofsted outcome.

Following a short one day inspection on in February, the school is very pleased that it continues to be judged as Good, having been graded Good in all areas under its previous full inspection in May 2013.

The Ofsted inspector noted a number of positives at the school, including the relationship between staff and pupils.

The quality of teaching, safeguarding of pupils and the school's leadership team were also praised.

"Staff know pupils well and demonstrate a determination to provide pupils with the best opportunities to achieve," the report noted.

"Teachers know their pupils’ individual needs well. In the strongest lessons, teachers use this information effectively, to challenge pupils and ensure a deeper level of understanding.

"Most pupils achieve well at Test Valley and leave the school with examination results that are at least in line with, and in many cases above, the national average"

Headteacher Louisa Hiscock said she was thrilled that the school has been recognised and praised its staff and pupils.

"I am delighted that the school has again achieved such a positive outcome from Ofsted with the strengths and the progress we are making as a school being recognised," she added.

"Their judgements certainly match our own self-evaluation and we are already addressing the next steps they have highlighted. We are also pleased that our ‘culture of care and support’ was identified as a feature of our school with effective safeguarding measures in place.

"This outcome is an important achievement for our school community and I thank the staff and governors for all their hard work and commitment to keep taking our school forward. We are very proud of our school and the well-being of our pupils is at the heart of everything we do. We are not, however, complacent and will always strive to be an even better school. We remain committed to raising standards and ensuring our pupils achieve whilst also offering a range of exciting opportunities outside the classroom.

"I also praise our pupils who impressed the inspectors by their enthusiasm and behaviour during the visit and thank parents for their ongoing support of the school."
