A SOUTHAMPTON mosque has condemned terror attacks in London which left five people dead and more than 20 injured.

Police say a 75-year-old from south London has been confirmed as the fifth person to die following the attack, which happened on Wednesday afternoon.

British-born Khalid Masood drove a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge and stabbed police officer Keith Palmer to death before being shot dead himself.

Following the attack, Southampton Medina Mosque issued a statement which says: "[The mosque] has and always will condemn all forms of terrorism and today our thoughts and prayer are with those who suffered and lost their lives at Westminster.

"Recently we have seen an increase in these cowardly acts in all parts of the world including the Arab countries, Pakistan, Turkey, in Europe and today in London.

"We must remain united with all those amongst humanity that love peace, and steadfast in our resolve, not allowing those who seek to create enmity and discord within society to succeed in spreading their hatred and bigotry.

"The perpetrators are a black mark on humanity and deserve to be punished for their crimes in this world and in the hereafter.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of these acts of terror at this difficult time.
