DON'T forget!

Clocks move forward by an hour across the UK at 1am on Sunday.

Most of us grumble at having an hour less in bed, but a charity says moving clocks forward an extra hour all year round would make roads safer for everyone.

Brake says studies estimate moving clocks to an hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time in winter, and two hours ahead in summer, would prevent 80 deaths and hundreds of serious injuries on UK roads each year.

The change, called single/double summer time (SDST), would create lighter evenings throughout the year and Brake believes it would encourage more people to walk or cycle to and from their destination rather than travelling by car.

Gary Rae, campaigns director at Brake, said: "Brake has been campaigning for the clocks to be changed for good for many years.

"It is such a simple and effective way to reduce deaths and injuries on our roads, and carries so many other benefits, like increased daylight leisure time and reduced carbon emissions.

"I want the government to look at this much-neglected issue again."
