A HAMPSHIRE woman died following an unwitnessed fall at her care home, an inquest heard.
Retired ceramics technician Linda Appleby was found lying in her bedroom by staff at Fordingbridge Care Home, Winchester Coroner's Court heard.
The court heard the 73-year old had moderate dementia, and injured her face, wrist and hip in the fall, which limited her mobility.
She was later diagnosed with pneumonia and died on January 23.
In a family statement read to the court, son Robin Appleby said the fall was not something that could have been anticipated.
"We as a family are happy with the care that she received in the home. We were given a great opportunity to spend time with Mum in her last week," the statement read.
Central Hampshire coroner Grahame Short recorded a conclusion of accidental death.
