Police have arrested a Southampton man following a fatal, late-night crash between a car and a pony and trap.
A 28-year-old driver was quizzed by officers after the 33-year-old man travelling in the trap was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injury following the collision in Portsmouth Road, Bursledon at 11.30pm on Sunday.
The man, who was from Guildford, died a short time later at Southampton General Hospital.
Both vehicles were travelling along Portsmouth Road heading towards Hamble when the crash occured. The driver of the Volkswagen Bora car was uninjured.
Hampshire Constabulary have now launched a witness appeal and would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the incident, or either of the vehicles before the collision.
