PLEASE can we scrap any idea of a hugely expensive Spitfire monument in Riverside Park as we already have monuments to the plane in the city?

There is the lovely ‘360 Degree Roll’ on the side of the Solent City University building adjacent to the Guildhall and, surprise, surprise, a Spitfire monument on the roundabout next to the airport where they actually flew from.

Instead can we spend money on improving things cruise passengers and other visitors can see daily?

The city is rightly proud of its extensive city walls – yet all the descriptive panels along their length are now almost illegible – sponsorship perhaps?

Then there are the Above Bar precinct and nearby car park messes of cardboard, dirty sleeping bags, blankets, etc. Surely we should enforce the no begging by-laws or at least clean up around them?
