IT was a gr-eight occasion at Hamble Club on Saturday – in more ways than one.

The merry Monks were presented with the Sydenhams Wessex One championship trophy and then celebrated in style with a landslide 8-0 win over Alton.

Nathan Lynch, Mo Nyang and sub James Thomson weighed in with two goals apiece, backed by singles from Jack Barnes and deadly Dougie Rowe.

With just two fixtures remaining, Hamble have hoovered up 31 wins and three draws from 38 league games, scoring 131 goals and conceding 34.

The league trophy was presented to Hamble Club chairman Mick Clarke by Ian Hoare, chairman of the Sydenhams League.

It was all smiles too for second-placed Baffins Milton Rovers who clinched promotion with a 2-1 win at Romsey.

Blu Boam and Tyler Moret put Baffins two up before Kieran Hancock hit back for the Bypass boys.
