Police arrested a man after a van was rolled on its side on a busy Hampshire street this morning.

Officers were called to Commercial Road, Totton, at 6.27am where the white van was on its side.

A Hampshire Contstabulary spokesman said: "There were no injuries and the driver was detained on suspicion of taking without consent and being unfit to drive."

Totton resident Dave Hills saw the aftermath of the incident. He said: "By the time I was there it was all over, there were two cars and they were putting a gentleman into a police van.

"There was a transit van on its side, there were people standing around while police directed the traffic.

"We were walking past about 7.20am and they were just starting to tidy the scene and right the vehicle.

"Police had done an awesome job and it's reassuring to know they respond quickly, given the recent spike in crime in the local area."

At least three police vans were seen parked on the road, where the van was on its side.
