GOSPORT Borough’s fight against National League South relegation is far from over following Good Friday’s priceless 2-0 win at rock-bottom Bishop’s Stortford.

But should the Privett Park outfit drag themselves out of third-to-bottom spot, they may go into next season without manager Alex Pike.

Steve Mills, chairman elect of sleeping Southern Premier giants Weymouth, says Pike has applied for the vacant Terras’ post.

He would not, however, confirm or deny that Pike’s name was on the short-list of six, saying only: “I will make an announcement during the week.

“We have had so many applications it’s been a hard job whittling it all down.

“It just goes to show how big a club Weymouth are at non-League level.

“We are down to about half a dozen. There are six good applicants.

“There will be some face-to-face interviews later in the week and we will hopefully have a decision by the Leamington game on Saturday."

Second-half goals by Joe Lea and former Eastleigh striker Tony Lee carried Borough to victory at doomed Bishop’s Stortford.

They need more of the same at home to Oxford City tomorrow (Monday, 3pm) to stand any hope of reeling in Whitehawk and Truro who are two points above them with three games to go.

Fifth-placed Poole Town are just two points ahead of chasing Hungerford following a 1-1 home draw with Hemel Hempstead.

Ben Greenhalgh gave Hemel a 15th-minute lead, wiped out by Luke Burbidge six minutes later.

Ex-AFC Totton striker Stefan Brown joined Louie Soares on the scoresheet in Hungerford's 2-0 win over Dartford.

Poole visit Bath City tomorrow (Monday) and Hungerford go to Hemel.
