HUNDREDS of children paraded through Eastleigh to celebrate St George’s Day.

Children from Scout groups from Eastleigh, Bishopstoke and Fair Oak came together for a service to mark the patron saint’s day.

Families stood and watched with pride as boys and girls marched in uniform from the centre of Eastleigh past Swan Shopping Centre, finishing at Leigh Park.

The Scouts were accompanied by music from the 14th Eastleigh Scout and Guide Band.

Deputy district commissioner, Malcolm Young, said: “We have celebrated Saint George since the Scouts was formed in 1907.

“Today the members will re-pledge their Scout promise today, to remind them of the organisations aims and values. It is important that we all come together today because we are stronger as a unit and we work as a team.”

This year the Scouts raised more than £1,000 for the Daily Echo’s Match My Money campaign.

One Scout, named Thomas, from the 7th Eastleigh Scouts, raised more than £300 alone.
