FIRE crews were called after reports that a person was inside a burning chip shop fire.
In total 40 firefighters rushed to the scene of the blaze on The Hard, Portsmouth, at about 10.45pm on Sunday night.
Crews discovered that everyone was safe and accounted for but were forced to cut away the structure of the building to tackle the fire.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the blaze.
