Isobelle Cooper has been crowned Miss Hampshire after the regional heat failed to take place.

The 19-year-old, who holds the title for Miss Southampton, snatched the title of Miss Hampshire after organisers failed to hold the event.

The Miss England organisation said they had received more than 30 entries but were unable to confirm why the event was cancelled.

The Miss England website carried no information about its cancellation.

It is understood that a third party was supposed to organise the event under a Miss England contract.

When the Echo contacted the organisation, we were told that there was no information about the event on record.

However, an employee stated the girls who applied for the heat would have been informed and could apply for other qualifying Miss England competitions nearby.

The director of Miss England Limited, Angie Beasley, who has organised hundreds of regional and national competitions on behalf of Miss World since 1988, said: “In the last two years, Isobelle has raised an incredible amount for various charities.

“Last year Isobelle was voted as the first runner-up in Miss Hampshire and became Miss Southampton.

“She then went forward to the Miss England semi-final and won the Miss Silk Powder award at Kelham Hall.

“We think Isobelle totally deserves another chance at the national title after the incredible charity work she has done, as fundraising is at the heart of Miss England and Miss World.”

Growing up, Isobelle suffered from severe anxiety and OCD.

She was so scared of becoming ill that she was unable to leave the house.

However, she said through pageantry her confidence grew and she was able to overcome her anxiety.

“I was really fearful of being around people who were sick before I started doing pageants.

“I have had to visit hospitals and be around people who are unwell, those are situations I would have never been able to do if it wasn’t for Miss England,” she said.

Now the hairdresser, who works at E’clips Hairdressing salon in Townhill, has set her sights on the Miss England title.

“If I became Miss England it would give me the platform to raise awareness for anxiety.

“It is important that people realise they are not alone, when I was younger it was hard because no one spoke about it, so I thought I was the only one.

“I want to be able to inspire people because having someone that you are able to relate to is really important,” said the beauty queen from Sholing.

In the last two years, Isobelle has raised more than £50,000 for various charities.

Isobelle will now represent Hampshire in the Miss England grand final which takes place between July 12 and 14 at Resorts World in Birmingham.
