NEW CCTV images have been released as police continue to investigate a serious assault which with left a man with a fractured skull in Southampton city centre.

A 20-year-old man rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and put in an induced coma due to the fractured skull, while two other men received minor injured after an 'altercation' with a gang of five men.

The incident happened five months ago but police have only now released details.

The man has since come out of the coma and police have confirmed he is making a slow recovery.

Three men had been walking through the Above Bar area of Southampton at around 4am of Saturday, December 17 when the assault took place outside the Golden Touch amusement arcade and Nationwide branch in Above Bar Street.

Three people had been arrested following an initial witness appeal by Hampshire Constabulary, but have been since bailed until June 15.

Officers have now released new CCTV images of two men they want to speak to over the attack.
