A POPULAR Southampton nightclub is set to host a fundraising event for Delays frontman Greg Gilbert.

As previously reported, the rockstar needs life-saving treatment for bowel cancer.

On May 26, the Grand Cafe, in Terminus Terrace, will be hosting a fundraising event where there will be entertainment, food and auctions.

The items being auctioned include a two-night hotel stay, two flights to the Isle of Wight, a champagne and canapé cruise as well as other luxury items.

The event will follow a football fundraiser which will take place earlier that day at St Mary's stadium.

The mini tournament will feature four teams and a total of 60 players are set to take part. It kicks off at 2pm and finishes at 5.30pm.

Event organisers Fight For Lives are encouraging Hampshire residents to come to the tournament.

Attendees can purchase tickets on the gate for a minimum donation of £2 and children can watch the game for free.

The day has been organised by Fight for Lives – which choices a cause or charity based in the area to support every year.

Fight for Lives director, Graeme Hampton said: “A fundamental part of our business is to support local causes and charities along with providing memorable experiences for those who participate in our events.

“We are committed to supporting Greg and his family not only at St Mary’s Stadium but also at other events throughout the year to help them achieve their fundraising target, further reinforcing our motto, ‘Stronger Together’.”

All the money raised from the day will go towards the father-of-two’s fundraising target of £250,000 – which will be used to pay for an alternative treatment that is not available on the NHS and maybe his only chance to see his two daughters Dali and Bay grow up.

Tickets can be bought at fightforlives.co.uk/boxoffice.
