LONG before the days that Red Bull supposedly gave you them, The Gaumont Theatre bestowed a gift of Wings to the adoring public.
In December 1979 the rock group Wings came to Southampton to perform classics such as Band on the Run and Live and Let Die.
Although the ensemble saw a variety of musicians come and go over the years, the band who rocked the Hampshire stage that day was made up of Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney, Denny Laine, Laurence Juber and Steve Holley.
The concert came shortly after the release of their seventh album Back to the Egg, as they played both old and new songs to thousands of fans.
