A DISTRAUGHT Hampshire family has issued a plea to help find their beloved pet dog.

Betsy, a two-year-old black Toy Poodle, escaped from her home, in Sullivan Road, Sholing at about 2pm on Friday.

She was then seen in Shop Lane around 3pm and in Coates Road - where she was hit by a rolling car - before she ran away spooked.

Betsy, whose collar was taken off after going to the groomers, also has a 15-week-old puppy.

Kerry McDonald, whose daughter Keily Woodruff owns the dog, said they were up all night until 3am and were back out again this morning looking for the dog.

She added they had searched the Sholing area and had now expanded the search to Netley

Kerry said the whole family were worried sick and were offering a reward, with no questions asked, to anyone who found her.

“My granddaughter has not slept all night. It is like someone has died. She is absolutely heartbroken. She is only ten,” Kerry added.

“Betsy was in the garden and there was a hole and when one of the neighbours came out and saw her trying to get out they shouted at her and she just ran. Then more people started shouting at her and chased after her, trying to catch her, but that spooked her even more and she just kept running.

“The whole family have been up all night, everyone is crying and everyone is in pieces.

“I have had to bring her puppy to my house so she has my dogs for company. She keeps crying and has been sick five times.

“Betsy doesn’t like being on her own and she is not a street wise dog at all. She doesn’t normally leave Keily’s side and follows her everywhere.

“She is either hiding somewhere because she is hurt or someone has taken her in.”

Anyone that sees Betsy has been asked to not chase after or shout at her as this will spook her further.

Kerry advised people to bend down on their knees and gently call her or to ring her straight away on 07841 065 045. Alternatively contact Kiely on 07710 299 063.
