The funeral takes place this week of a former Southampton city secretary who has died aged 94.
Matt Reynolds worked at Southampton civic centre from 1938, starting in the licensing office.
It was in 1966 that he was admitted to the Solicitors’ Roll.
Mr Reynolds, who lived in Southampton, became assistant Town Clerk in 1967 and city secretary in 1974 before he retired from the council in 1983.
His only daughter Diana Doran, said: “He was a wonderful father, husband and grandfather.
“He spent his whole life always doing what he thought right and he never compromised his principles.
“He worked hard for his family and the city of Southampton. We remember him with great affect and love.”
Matt was a lifelong Saints supporter, and as city secretary, he was a guest in the Royal Box at Wembley Stadium to witness Southampton FC winning the FA Cup Final in 1976.
He was husband to Joyce Friend for nearly 69 years.
His funeral are to be held at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Romsey on Wednesday at 11.30am.
