TWO dozen people bounced for a good cause in a unique four-hour fundraiser to support a Southampton cancer ward.

The event was the brain-child of Boogie Bounce instructor Tracy Rigney whose nan Val passed away from lung cancer earlier this year.

The 37-year-old was joined by fellow instructor Dawn Huntley who together led an exhausting four-hour trampoline workout in a bid to raise £2,000, at Woodlands Community College.

Tracy, who runs fitness classes through her business Fitness Fairy, said they had done a bounce-a-thon before for the MS Society - who were their chosen charity.

But after her nan spent some time on the cancer ward at Southampton General Hospital she wanted to do something nice for all the wonderful nurses and doctors.Tracy said: “They were amazing with my nan and she loved them.

“My nan found out they liked chocolate and peanut butter so she kept giving me £10 and told me to go buy as much as I could for them - she just wanted to do something nice for them.

“Some people are doing the whole four hours and some have come and gone but it has going well.”

Tracy said they had raised around £800 so far and were planning to do another event in the summer to help reach their target.
